Try docx4all

docx4all is our cross-platform (inc Linux, XP, Vista, OSX) wordprocessor for docx files - which are produced by Word 2007 and an increasing range of other products.

You can try out an early release of docx4all by clicking on the orange 'launch' button below.

Logging

Once docx4all fires up, it logs to the Java Console. To enable logging, open the Java Control Panel, click on Advanced, Debugging, and ensure Enable logging is checked.

Java SE 6

docx4all currently requires Java SE 6 to launch. If you don't have it, it should be installed automatically by Sun's funky new Javascript when you click(ed) the above link. Then come back and click on the link again.

Mac OSX

You'll need to be using a 64-bit Mac (read 'pretty new'), running Leopard, and update your JDK to Java SE 6 Developer Preview 9.

64-bit users

Unfortunately Java Web Start is not available yet for 64 bit versions of the JRE/JDK (come on Sun!), so on 64 bit platforms, you'll need a 32 bit Java.

Support

Any other problems or suggestions, please post to the docx4all users forum or the blog entry.
