Try docx4all

docx4all is our collaboration-enabled cross-platform wordprocessor for the docx files produced by Word 2007 and an increasing range of other products.

On this page, you use it as an applet running inside your web browser (though you can drag it by holding your alt key as you move the mouse). If you prefer, you can run it as a desktop application

It may take a minute or so to load the first time you use it. Subsequent times will be faster.

You can start by creating or opening a file (using the menu or icon). Scroll to the bottom of this page for instructions on how to collaborate.

Collaborating

Changes are only exchanged when you explicitly choose to do so.

To transmit your changes, go to the Plutext menu > Transmit Local Edits or click the button

Then, from the File menu, choose "Export as New Shared".

Getting your own private space

You are working on documents other people can see. If you want your own login and private testing space, see here

Support

Any other problems or suggestions, please post to the docx4all users forum

You still need Java 6 for this to work. If you have Java 6 release 10, you can try dragging the applet off the web page and onto your desktop (to do this, press the 'alt' key as you drag with your mouse).
